  5. Just listening to Warm and Tender Love.... gosh haven't heard that for years.! i think that was the ONLY tune that Martin would dance with me to. Oh how lovely, what a lovely song and happy memories. THE BEST.

  6. Reading other member's memories, two names have cropped up that I remember now that the brain cells have been beaten into action. Bob Leonard and Fergus Thain. I was at college with Bob and a lot of our time was spent talking about the club and what we had got up to the night before! I made many other friends there although, not being blessed with a great memory, I couldn't tell you their names. I feel so sorry for my children that they had nowhere to go like the ILC. They don't know what they missed!

  7. I remember the Lodge at the very, very beginning! I also went to school with Mike McCann (and used to ride on his scooter) but don't know what happened to him after the Travellers. I married Martin's eldest brother, he DJ'd there for a while when it all first started.

    Good times!

  8. Hello to anyone who remembers me
I remember the camping trip to Ratzberg in Germany where I had my first taste of barcardi and coke. The Harwich to Hamburg boat ride was a nightmare and I was sick most of the time. We swam in the lake and had a trip to Cophenhagen and of course there was the call for meals with 'The Israelites' blasting out. It seems like yesterday. The club was a great time and I am pleased I met so many lovely folks!
If anyone is intersted, the Lovers Rock Christmas Party is in Corks Wine Bar, 28 Binney Street 15 December starting at 8.00pm, with Carroll Thompson. May be worth popping along.

  9. Great days and great memories!! What started as a venue for a simple youth club evolved into an instituiton. We had some great times there and felt very special to have such a place to congregate. I suppose the equivalant today would be to own your own appartment at 16 years old. Does anyone remember the old caretaker ? a creepy guy who said he could read palms, needless to say he read mine and told me I would live till I was 70, sounded good to me at the time but with only 10 years to go I wish he was still around so I could demand a recount !!
Does anyone remember Mick Mc Cann ? . He was a real character and ended up some years on as the landlord of the Travellers Rest. I wondered if anyone knows what happened to him.
I still have fond memories of Roger White, a great mate and such a sad way to lose him.
Anyway well done to Pete for the Ivy Lodge site (how does he remember all the names) !!
    Best wishes
    Jim Mersh

Yeah Martin remembers Manns Brown in the Travellers Friend, and I remember him carrying me over the barrier in the middle of the dual carriageway.... couldn't do that now... we'd get arrested !

I remember playing table tennis upstairs and losing many balls that landed in the open log fire at the end of the room. Also sneeking out to the Traveller's when we were still well underage and not breathing on Wally Poulter when we came back in. Happy Days

John L Watson and the Web... yeah I remember them! Also, Revlon Intimate perfume.mmmmm! TV room (settees and snoggings), Table tennis room., big dance room. Remember we decorated it? We also used to bunk off school (i.e. climb out of the needlework room window) to sneak into the club and "smoke!" HOW VERY DARE WE. I can remember changing out of my school uni on the bus, couldn't risk being seen in that get up. Panama hat rolled up in my Union Jack tote bag, from Carnaby St!! Oh my goodness what would the Nuns have said!! Great times!
